What I Use - To Do What I Do

It’s natural and even essential to understand what equipment (as well as techniques) are being used by our peers, as a baseline for our own understanding. I have put together this article as companion to my upcoming course ADVANCED TECHNIQUES FOR THE CURIOUS PHOTOGRAPHER so as you understand what is needed. The argument that “gear doesn’t matter” is rather superficial and egotistical, anyone who tries to catch water with a sieve or eat soup with a fork can attest to. That’s not to say you abandon the art due to the downfalls of your equipment and let’s get that out of the way right now, your equipment has downfalls. There is no perfect camera and only you can decide what is worth prioritising. However, if you have taken the interest to read my articles and view my images you have an understanding of what I use this equipment for, which is paramount.

There will be a lot to digest and the best way to deliver this information is by separating them into two categories of “Field Use” and “Office Use”. I’m not one to do an enormous amount of preparation as I find the authentic reaction a large part of my photography, and my article Inspirations covers this muscle memory, reflex more comprehensively.
