One of the strangest yet more traditional festivals, occurring during the full moon in October where it is believed that the god of the Mekong, Paya Naga sends fireballs into the sky. Celebrated with lanterns and luminous effigies, it is also a cause for celebration amongst the people of Nong Khai and surrounding areas.
